ABOUT
An engineer’s eye for strategy
Yann trained as a civil-geotechnical engineer and earth scientist at Monash University and started his career in Australian iron-ore mining as a geotechnical project engineer with Rio Tinto from 2012 to 2016. It taught him how real assets behave, and what actually drives cost and risk in resource-intensive businesses.
An INSEAD MBA followed, then strategy consulting with McKinsey & Company, including McKinsey Digital, and later Orica. Today he is a Principal Consultant at PQ Partners, a Melbourne capital-investment advisory firm, while running his independent practice, YP Consult, founded in 2021.
His work sits where engineering rigour meets commercial strategy: group strategy and value-chain optimisation, operating-model and organisation design, accountability frameworks such as RASCI, business transformation, and the commercial case for sustainability.
Bilingual in French and English, a member of the French-Australian Chamber of Commerce and an advisor to Loyal VC, he is based between Melbourne and Tokyo, studying Japanese and building relationships across both markets.
